Val served as the President & CEO of BC’s biggest and broadest business association – the BC Chamber of Commerce – for four years, securing historic policy wins for small businesses during the first phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. Before joining the BC Chamber, Val was the CEO of the Whistler Chamber of Commerce and Vice President of Operations for Nurse Next Door, Canada’s largest home health care franchise.
He also co-founded the first-to-market Blo Blow Dry Bar which now has 90+ locations worldwide. Val is well-versed in the social enterprise space, too. In 2002, he co-founded Extreme Kindness and launched volunteer tours and a web-series based on committing random acts of kindness across Canada and the U.S. The tours evolved into a best-selling book on corporate social responsibility and the power of communities to build social capital.
