The Forum x Uber: Driving Entrepreneurs Forward

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve partnered with Uber Canada on a special project: The Forum x Uber: Driving Entrepreneurs Forward. Together, we produced a short film that celebrates entrepreneurship and the community it takes to support business owners in reaching their goals.

Watch the film, featuring Windfall Cider Co-Founder Nathaly Nairn and rideshare driver Yasmin Siso, here:

Nathaly, an alumna of The Forum Mentor Program Presented by The Scotiabank Women Initiative®, explains how she’s felt supported, cared for, and guided by The Forum team and its incredible community by her side.

Next, she and Yasmin connect on a morning commute via Uber to Windfall Cider. The two women share what they love most about entrepreneurship—including the flexibility, which enables them to spend valuable time with their loved ones.

Once Nathaly and Yasmin arrive at Windfall Cider, we learn more about what led Nathaly to start her own business. Having dedicated much of her career to corporate life, she eventually realized she needed to do something that was all her own to find the fulfillment she was looking for.

Today, Nathaly and the Windfall Cider team produce amazing cider by using the very best apples in B.C. and staying on top of the latest innovations in cider making.

As Nathaly explains, “Being an entrepreneur is full of challenges, but having a community like The Forum gives you a group of people who are there to advocate for you and give you confidence.”

To learn more about Nathaly, her business, and how you can support her while shopping ciders you can’t wait to sip, head over to the Windfall Cider website.

Behind the Scenes

The Forum x Uber: Driving Entrepreneurs Forward is the culmination of months of collaboration that brought this project to life.

In the late fall of 2023, we put out a call for a creative agency that shared our vision and would be able to translate inspiring stories of women entrepreneurs to the screen. We found this in Rich&Jay, who went above and beyond to make the experience seamless and create a result that we’re proud to share with you today.

By winter, we were able to focus our efforts on finding entrepreneurs who could share their stories. The Forum team had a connection with Nathaly through her involvement in The Forum community and Mentor Program, and excitedly reached out to her to share details about the campaign. The Uber team thought of the many women-identified rideshare drivers that they are proud to work with, and reached out to Yasmin, who has been a driver on Uber since 2019.

In the spring, creative development, final concepts, collaborative script development, shooting, and editing were all underway.

We leaned into Nathaly’s inspiring story and journey as an entrepreneur to build the narrative for the short film, and connected with Yasmin to learn more about her experiences as a rideshare driver and someone who loves being her own boss.

The shoot was done by a wonderful women-led production team and directed by Jamila Pomeroy

Once the short film was complete, we hosted a premiere event that brought together The Forum and Uber’s communities of Canadian women entrepreneurs and rideshare drivers in June 2024.

A Big Thanks to Those Who Made It All Possible!

The Forum x Uber: Driving Entrepreneurs Forward would not be possible without each of the incredible collaborators who contributed to its development and launch.
