Morgan McDonald (she/her)
Morgan McDonald is a partner at DLA Piper (Canada) LLP where she also serves as Co-Chair to the firm’s Emerging Growth and Venture Capital Practice. As a business lawyer, she practices corporate and commercial law with companies from startup, to growth and ultimately later operating stages. Morgan’s practice is focused on assisting founders and established companies in the technology sector, including software, gaming, ecommerce and related technology facing businesses and emerging markets including artificial intelligence, cloud computing and privacy. Morgan also supports family offices and various funds in investments into portfolio companies as well as larger corporations in making strategic investments into various businesses.
Morgan is active in the startup and technology community, partnering as a mentor with a number of accelerators and incubators and speaking regularly to entrepreneurs and providing office hours. Prior to joining the board of the Forum, Morgan was a mentor to numerous entrepreneurs through the Forum’s programs. Morgan is active in pro bono, being a co-founder of her firm’s Black and Indigenous Pro Bono Business Law Clinic.
Prior to earning her LL.M. from the University of British Columbia, Morgan externed at the United States District Court for the Central District of California and was called to the California State Bar. She has recently been recognized by Legal 500 in Technology, by Lexpert as a Rising Star, and by Business in Vancouver’s 40 under 40.
Outside the office, Morgan is a wife and mother of two young children and enjoys getting outdoors as much as possible.
